Lesson 5:
Books should not be placed near one's shoes. Books represent knowledge and should be treated with an air of sanctity.
Lesson 6:
After eating dinner with one's hands, one should NOT wash one's hands in the same sink where one washes dishes. This, from an orthodox perspective, is because the hand is now considered unclean In most Tamil homes there seems to be a separate sink especially designated for the hand washing purpose.
Interesting, in really orthodox homes (like that of one of Nikhil's grandparents) one shouldn't even mix the dirty plates with the serving dishes in the wash basin.
